I was also having this problem Windows 7 64bit (RTM version) connecting to SBS2003 The fix works but the computer name must be all upper case by the time it appears in Active Directory. So if the computer appears as PeteWin7 in Active Directory it still fails. So stick to upper case when naming the computer! Is there a way of refreshing AD other than restarting the server, because the ADSIEDIT doesn’t seem to take effect immediately. We are going to test the 32 bit version.

Setting the computer name to all uppercase, removing the computer from the domain and then re-adding it (with the computername in uppercase) fixed for me. Thanks.

Actually rebooted into safe mode with networking, had to enable local admin account, it got disabled by default for some reason, then reset the password, and then rejoined the domain, restarted and Voila!! I could log in again. OH, and i did remove the computer from AD first.

There is no such thing as “ADSIEDIT.MSC” on my SBS2003 server. Are there any other workarounds? I now have two WIN7 systems that I can no longer login to.
