Agentic AI refers to an advanced class of Artificial Intelligence that possesses the autonomy to think, plan, and execute multi-step tasks independently to achieve a specific goal.
Unlike traditional Generative AI (like basic implementations of ChatGPT or Claude), which only responds to direct prompts and leaves the execution to the user, Agentic AI creates its own workflow, breaks down complex tasks, utilizes external tools, and adapts to changes to complete the entire objective without constant human intervention.
💡 Generative AI vs. Agentic AI (An Example)
Imagine you want to plan a business trip to Singapore next week:
- Generative AI: If you ask for an itinerary, it will write a beautiful 5-day plan. However, you still have to manually go to websites to check flight prices, book hotels, and schedule meetings yourself.
- Agentic AI: You give it a single goal: “I need to go to Singapore next week. My budget is $1,500. Find the best flight and hotel, add the schedule to my Google Calendar, and email me a summary.”
- What the AI Agent does: It autonomously navigates flight APIs (like Skyscanner) -> checks hotel bookings -> compares pricing -> logs into your calendar to set schedules -> drafts and sends you the confirmation email. 🤯

An AI Agent is built on four core architectural pillars:
